LAS VEGAS -- A middleweight match-up between Alan Belcher and Demian Maia has been verbally agreed to by both fighters for Ultimate Fight Night 22 on Sept. 15, MMA Fighting has learned from sources close to the event.The yet-to-be announced event is expected to be followed by the premiere of the 12th season of The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV.
Maia (12-2) is coming off a middleweight title loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. The loss marked his second in three fights. He holds notable wins over Dan Miller, Chael Sonnen and Nate Quarry.
Belcher (16-6) has won four of his last five fights. He most recently defeated Patrick Cote at UFC 113 earlier this month. He also has defeated the likes of Wilson Gouveia, Denis Kang and Ed Herman.
