Gracie has been conquering the grappling circuit now turns to his third pro MMA fight. Randleman is looking to notch a win after losing nine of his last 12 fights.
The live blog is below.
Round 1: Gracie's wearing plain black shorts that look like pajama bottoms. No sponsors? Guess he doesn't need the money. He measures Randleman with his long jab and glances a slow right hand off the shorter man's forehead. Gracie doesn't seem like he's in a hurry to get the fight to the floor, surprisingly. A vocal member of the crowd encourages Randleman to change levels and use his wrestling. Randleman is ignoring him for the moment. Randleman presses Gracie against the fence and the Brazilian looks for a half-hearted standing guillotine. He uses it to briefly pull Randleman down, but can't keep him there. A lackluster first round comes to a close. MMA Fighting scores the round for Gracie on the sole basis of superior activity, 10-9.
Round 2: Randleman ducks under a lazy Gracie jab and hammers him with a hook to the body. This wakes Gracie up, and he comes back with a right that finds Randleman's chin. Randleman presses him against the cage and Gracie looks for a clinch. Gracie drops Randleman with a big knee and then jumps on him. Gracie gets mount, looks for an arm triangle, and then takes Randleman's back in the scramble. Randleman's defending well, but Gracie has the body triangle. Gracie sinks the rear naked choke in and Randleman begins to tap, but goes to sleep before he can complete the motion. An elated Gracie rolls Randleman's limp body to one side and gets up to celebrate with his team.
Roger Gracie def. Kevin Randleman via submission (rear naked choke) at 4:10 of round 2.
