Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva Earns Decision Win Over Andrei Arlovski

Facing a must-win situation, Andrei Arlovski found himself on the wrong side of the scorecards, as Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva out-struck the former UFC champ and aspiring boxer en route to a unanimous decision.

According to instant Compustrike stats, Silva landed 52 percent of his strikes to Arlovski's 38 percent over the three-round bout. Throw in Silva's two takedowns, and it was game over.

Silva landed the more significant punches in round one, tagging Arlovski with a right cross and later a left hook in the opening frame. Silva also scored a takedown with 1:00 to go, but Arlovski was able to neutralize him on the ground until the closing horn.

In the second, Silva drilled Arlovski early in the round with an overhand right that opened up a cut on his opponent's nose. The round featured a significant amount of clinch work but not a significant amount of damage on either side.

Silva seemed quite sure he was up on the scorecards in the third, as every time Arlovski landed anything, he looked to tie him up and clinch against the fence. He added a takedown with about 90 seconds left in the round, but couldn't finish the tough Arlovski.

Still, it was the third straight loss for the ex-UFC champ Arlovski, who dropped to 15-8.

Silva improved his record to 14-2, bouncing back from his last fight, a loss to Fabricio Werdum.
