Sarah Kaufman Under Contract With Strikeforce

Strikeforce 135-pound women's champion Sarah Kaufman is in fact under contract with the promotion, says Strikeforce Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz.

In an interview Monday with MMAFighting.com, Kaufman said that her title win against Takayo Hashi was the last fight on her contract and that she's still in discussions to re-sign with the organization.

However, according to Afromowitz, Kaufman's contract was extended as as result of the Hashi win. Also, Strikeforce plans to have the 24-year-old Canadian fight three more times within the next year.

When asked for comment Thursday, Kaufman provided a "no comment," but fully expects to be fighting under the Strikeforce banner.

Kaufman (11-0) is ranked by MMARising.com as the No. 4 pound-for-pound female fighter in the world. While on the Strikeforce roster, Kaufman has scored wins on Strikeforce Challengers cards over Miesha Tate, Shayna Baszler and Hashi.
