UFC 113 Live Blog: Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens Updates

This is the UFC 113 live blog for Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens, a lightweight bout on tonight's pay-per-view in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Ontario's Sam Stout takes on another striker in Stephens. Stout has won his last two UFC fights, beating Joe Lauzon and Matt Winman in Fight of the Nights by unanimous decisions.

Round 1: Stephens catches a leg kick and counters with a charging right that leads to a takedown. Stout escapes to his feet. Stephens lands a leg kick. Stephens lands a right that trips up Stout. Stout lands a hard leg kick. Stephens seems like he wants the homerun knockout. Stephens drops Stout with a right at 2:50. Stout stands up but eats a knee on his way up. Stout's bleeding from his nose. Stephens throws a spinning backfist that looks like it actually connected. They exchange punches. Stout continues picking with leg kicks. Stout comes in with a combo but gets hit with a counter right. Stephens lands leg kicks and launches his right. Stout attacks the body but has to back away to avoid Stephens' power hands. Nice kickboxing match we have going here.

Round 2:
Stout pumps out jabs at the request of Shawn Tompkins. Stout lands a hard leg kick and Stephens launches with a right. Stout gets another kick countered with a right that sends him stumbling back. Stephens charges in, but Stout latches on a kimura. Stephens escapes and stands up with 3:23 left. Stout lands a left hook and a leg kick that's checked. Stephens is bleeding from the nose. Stout with quick shots to the body. Stephens lands a solid jab. Stephens' pace is slowing, not throwing as many bombs. Stout continues his picking. Stephens' jab is effective though. Closer round.

Round 3:
A low kick to Stephens stalls the fight early in the third. Stephens lands a leg kick. Stephens lands a right and a kick to the body. Stout seems technically better but Stephens is doing an excellent job countering, not to mention the force in his hands. Stephens lands a nice knee at 2:45. Stout lands a kick that leaves Stephens frozen. Stout goes for the finish, chasing Stephens with punches. Stephens slips. Stout lands elbows in Stephens' guard. With 30 seconds left, Stephens swings away. Stout circles away. Stephens scores the takedown with 15 seconds left. Stout stands up immediately.
