This is the UFC 113 live blog for Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, the main event of tonight's pay-per-view in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Machida defends his title against Rua in a rematch from UFC 104 that saw the champion escape with a controversial decision.

Rua walks out to dance music. Machida walks out to his dad's chant followed by Linkin Park's Bleed It Out.

Round 1: Rua lands an inside leg kick. Rua throws a combo. Machida lands a clean left. Rua coming out way more aggressively than the last time. He chases down Machida with punches. Rua lands a leg kick and Machida checks. Rua shoots for the takedown, but Machida reverses. Rua stands up with an underhook under Machida's right side. They separate. Rua rushes forward with punches, dazing Machida. Machida trips Rua down into halfguard. Rua stands up, absorbing a knee to the body on the way up. They clinch against the cage and separate, with Machida landing a knee upon separation. Machida lands a knee. Rua connects on an overhand right that drops Machida. Rua throws rapid left and rights from mount and knocks Machida out cold!

Rua becomes the new UFC light heavyweight champion and hands Machida the first loss of his career.

During Rua's post-fight interview, there's a shot of Machida and he has a HUGE mouse under his left eye.
