The rumored Jon Jones vs. Vladimir Matyushenko bout appears to be a go, as "The Janitor" confirmed the bout with MMA Heat's Karyn Bryant recently."[It''s] pretty much a done deal," Matyushenko said. "A few details have to be worked out, but I don't see no reason why it's not going to happen. 99% it's on."
If the fight happens, it will take place at UFC on Versus 2 on Aug. 1 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Jones (10-1) most recently defeated Brandon Vera via first-round TKO at UFC on Versus 1.
Matyushenko (22-4) was also victorious on that card, defeating Eliot Marshall via split decision. Since returning to the UFC, Matyushenko is 2-0. The former IFL light heavyweight champion lost a UFC 205-pound title match against Tito Ortiz at UFC 33 in September 2001.
Also rumored for the second UFC telecast on Versus is Joe Stevenson vs. Takanori Gomi.
