WEC 48 Weigh-in Results

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Urijah Faber, Jose Aldo and the rest of the WEC 48 cast made weight Friday afternoon at the site of Saturday's fights, the ARCO Arena, to make official a total of 11 fights for WEC's first foray into pay-per-view.

The star of the show was of course former champion and hometown favorite (April 22 was Urijah Faber day in Sacramento) Faber, who weighed-in safely at 144.5 pounds.

"I can't wait, man," Faber told Joe Rogan. "It's going to be a battle. Jose Aldo's very good and so am I. We're both going to get crazy in there and I'm look to get the belt.

"No way, Jose," Faber said to the roar of the crowd.

Traveling all the way from Brazil was the explosive striker Aldo, who stepped off the scale at 145 pounds for his first title defense. Although Aldo said on stage that Sacramento feels like a home away from home, the fans didn't exactly share the same sentiment, booing and heckling the 23-year-old during his interview with Rogan.

Still, Aldo had nothing but good things to say about his challenger.

"Urijah Faber was a great champion," Aldo said through his translator and manager Ed Soares. "He was there for a while and I think the fans are going to get what they paid to see."

Notes: Alex Karalexis was the only fighter to miss weight, but was successful on his second try with the help of a towel ... Karalexis and Anthony Pettis had the best staredown of the night in what otherwise was a rather friendly affair.
