Mir's Comments on Lesnar Re-Emerge on ESPN

Frank Mir created a controversy last month with comments about UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar including, "I hate who he is as a person. I want to break his neck in the ring. I want him to be the first person that dies due to Octagon-related injuries."

Mir and the UFC have tried hard to put that quote behind them, but it keeps cropping up.

Most recently, it cropped up on ESPN Thursday afternoon, when Mir was asked about the comments by SportsCenter anchor Jay Harris. Mir did his best to avoid wading back into the issue.

"I've learned just to focus my energy on just performing inside the Octagon," Mir said. "Obviously, the way you explain things can come off a little strange and you want to be entertaining. At the same time I just want to focus on what the task at hand is, and for any dreams of Brock, facing him, to come true, I've first got to get through Shane Carwin."

At this point, that's about all Mir can do: Say he's tried to learn from the controversy surrounding the comments and then try his best to put the attention back on Saturday night's fight.
