Kurt Pellegrino vs. Fabricio Camoes Promoted to UFC 111 Main Card

NEW YORK -- With Thiago Alves suddenly forced off the UFC 111 pay-per-view due to a brain irregularity, the organization has bumped the Kurt Pellegrino vs. Fabricio Camoes lightweight bout to the main card, MMA Fighting has learned from sources close to Pellegrino. "Batman" confirmed the news on Twitter Thursday morning.

UFC.com reports that Alves' opponent, Jon Fitch, has been pulled from the card and that the event will feature 10 fights now instead of 11.

Pellegrino was scheduled to face Frankie Edgar at The Ultimate Fighter Finale in December, but was forced to pull out after injuring his back. The New Jersey-native most recently defeated Josh Neer at UFC 101 and is currently riding a three-fight winning streak.

Nicknamed "Morango," which means strawberry in Portuguese, Camoes fought to a majority draw against Caol Uno in his Octagon debut at UFC 106 in November. The Royler Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt is unbeaten in his last eight fights and has fought for both Strikeforce and EliteXC in the past.
