Daniel "Ninja" Roberts has signed to meet John Howard in a welterweight fight at UFC on Versus 1 on March 21 in Broomfield, Colo., according to both Roberts and Howard's manager.
Roberts of Tulsa, Okla. will be making his Octagon debut in place of Anthony "Rumble" Johnson, who withdrew due to a knee injury.
Roberts began fighting in 2007 and has won all nine of his MMA fights. He's coming off a victory over early UFC fighter Anthony Macias last month at a 5150 Combat League event. According to his personal website, Roberts is a former All-American wrestler with 12 years of wrestling and jiu-jitsu experience.
Howard (13-4) is 3-0 in the UFC with wins over Dennis Hallman, Tamdan McCrory and Chris Wilson. Before making it to the UFC, Howard competed mostly in the East Coast, including a one-time fight with the IFL.
UFC on Versus will feature Brandon Vera vs. Jon Jones and Junior Dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga.
