Florian-Gomi, Nelson-Struve, Five Others Set for UFC Fight Night 21

The UFC's return to North Carolina with UFC Fight Night 21 has been announced for March 31 at Charlotte's Bojangles Coliseum.

In the co-main events, title contender Kenny Florian welcomes former PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi to the UFC and The Ultimate Fighter 10 winner Roy Nelson takes on prospect Stefan Struve.

Florian (12-4) compiled a six-fight win streak to earn a shot against BJ Penn at UFC 101 in August. But like many challenging Penn for the lightweight strap, Florian was outmatched. In December, Florian bounced back with a submission over Clay Guida at UFC 107.

While with PRIDE, Gomi (31-5) was 13-1 with one no contest. However, ever since his loss (later overturned to a no contest) to Nick Diaz, he's never been the same. Gomi was expected to hold the Sengoku title, but only recorded a .500 record with the promotion. Gomi in May returned to Shooto events, and picked up wins over Takashi Nakakura and Tony Hervey.

Nelson (14-4), a former IFL heavyweight champion, was the clear favorite heading into The Ultimate Fighter 10. While he didn't win in impressive fashion during the show, he saved the best for last, knocking out Brendan Schaub on the live finale to win the six-figure contract.

At 21 years of age, Struve (19-3) is looking at his fifth UFC appearance. Struve lost in his UFC debut last February to Junior Dos Santos but bounced back with wins against Denis Stojnic, Chase Gormley and Paul Buentello.

The UFC has also confirmed Nate Quarry vs. Jorge Rivera, Ross Pearson vs. Dennis Siver, Cole Miller vs. Andre Winner, Yushin Okami vs. Lucio Linhares and Caol Uno vs. Gleison Tibau.
