Diego Sanchez to Face John Hathaway in Welterweight Return

Diego Sanchez's return to welterweight will be against undefeated John Hathaway on May 29, according to Sanchez on his Twitter account.

The fight will happen at UFC 114 in Las Vegas, a card expected to feature the long built up showdown between Rashad Evans vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.

Sanchez (21-3) is back at 170 pounds after a three-fight stint in 2009 at 155 pounds, where he defeated contenders Joe Stevenson and Clay Guida and lost in a championship bout this past December against BJ Penn.

Sanchez's plan was to eventually return to welterweight. His thought process was to move down to lightweight while his then-27-year-old body could still handle it. At welterweight, he'll look to avenge losses to AKA fighters Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch.

Hathaway (12-0) out of Brighton, England will be fighting in the US for the first time after being slotted for three UFC events in Europe in 2009. While with the UFC, Hathaway has defeated Thomas Egan, Rick Story and Paul Taylor.
