Two participants announced Wednesday for Sengoku's first card of 2010 are King of Pancrase lightweight titleholder Maximo Blanco and Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago.
Blanco (4-2-1), referred to as "Maxi" in Japan, fights for both Pancrase and Sengoku and has won his last two fights by TKO. He stopped Katsuya Inoue last August to win the King of Pancrase title and defeated Tetsuya Yamada a month later at Sengoku 10.
Although Santiago (21-8) is the titleholder after winning the Sengoku Middleweight Grand Prix and beating challenger Kazuo Misaki, he lost to Mamed Khalidov in a non-title fight in his first fight as champ last November at Sengoku 11. The first-round TKO loss halted a nine-fight undefeated streak that spanned nearly three years.
Sengoku 12 was originally scheduled on New Year's Eve, but was cancelled in favor of co-promoting with DREAM and K-1 at Dynamite!! 2009.
