Houston Alexander Loses Again

Houston Alexander, the ex-UFC fighter who a few years ago looked like one of the sport's most promising light heavyweights, suffered a second-round TKO loss to a little-known opponent named Joey Beltran on Saturday night.

It was Alexander's fifth loss in his last six fights, and he only went the distance against one of those five opponents, Kimbo Slice.

Alexander burst onto the scene in the UFC in 2007, beating both Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara by first-round TKO. Now he's losing on small-time shows to part-time fighters like Beltran, whose record includes a loss to Yohan Banks, the guy whom the Florida boxing commission said wasn't good enough to fight Bobby Lashley. Bloody Elbow and The Underground have some details of Alexander vs. Beltran, and it sounds like Alexander was thoroughly dominated.

Sherdog has the full results of the Saturday night event, which included fights featuring Tim Boetsch, Rich Clementi, Jeremy Horn and Jeff Monson. It was actually a pretty solid fight card that the 5150 Combat League put on. Get that promotion a TV deal.
