"I'm really starting to believe in myself and that I do belong here at the top," Jones said in a statement. "I'm working really hard and I know you have to fight the best and beat the best in order to be the best, and that's what I'll be doing when I take on Brandon Vera on March 21."
The event, taking place March 21 at the Odeum Colorado in Broomfield, Colo., is the first of two live UFC events planned for Versus in 2010. The UFC's presence on Versus was part of an renewed agreement inked last month between Zuffa and it's WEC broadcast partner of two years.
The UFC on Versus cards will be similar to the UFC Fight Nights on Spike TV.
Jones and Vera are both coming off hot topic losses. Jones lost the first fight of his career at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in December when he was disqualified for throwing illegal elbows on a mounted Matt Hamill. Vera lost to Randy Couture in a three-round fight that many believe Vera should have won.
Jones-Vera is the only fight announced so far by the UFC. Clay Guida-Sean Sherk and John Howard-Anthony Johnson are also expected to take place.
