WEC 46 Live Blog: Mackens Semerzier vs. Deividas Taurosevicius Updates

This is the WEC 46 live blog for Mackens Semerzier vs. Deividas Taurosevicius, a featherweight bout on tonight's Versus card.

Coming off one of the biggest upset wins of 2009, Semerzier squares off against the IFL veteran Taurosevicius.

The live blog begins below.

Round 1: Taurosevicius rushes in for the clinch, pusing Semerzier against the cage. Taurosevicius moves into a single leg and takes Semerzier down. After all that work, Taurosevicius backs off and mostly kicks at Semerzier's legs. Eventually, he dives in for a guard pass and moves to side mount. Nice elbows from the top from Taurosevicius, but Semerzier threatens a triangle and gets back to his feet. Taurosevicius caught Semerzier with a left. As he moved in, Semerzier threatened with a guillotine, but Taurosevicius took him down again. After 30 seconds of stalemate, the ref stands them up. Taurosevicius looks for another takedown, and Semerzier looks for another guillotine. They finish the round against the cage. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 for Taurosevicius.

Round 2: Semerzier's having a bit of trouble finding his striking range against the lefty. Taurosevicius scores another takedown. Semerzier got up quickly, and Taurosevicius went back to another takedown. This time, Semerzier nearly secured the triangle before Taurosevicius pulled out. Taurosevicius pressed him against the cage and scored with some strikes. Taurosevicius continued controlling Semerzier on the ground. Semerzier briefly threatened with a kneebar, to no avail. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 for Taurosevicius.

Round 3: This round begins with the longest extended period of standup, and Semerzier gets the better of it until Taurosevicius goes for the takedown a minute in. Semerzier stays on his feet. Taurosevicius went in for a shot and Semerzier tried a d'arce. Taurosevicius escaped. Semerzier then tried a rolling kimura, and almost had it. Semerzier got back to his foot with Taurosevicius on his back. Semerzier stood over him, landing strikes, but needs to step it up. With 1:30 left, he opens up with a few hammerfists, and Taurosevicius is bloodied. Less than a minute to go and Semerzier goes for a guillotine, but Taurosevicius pops his head free after a few seconds of suspense. MMA Fighting scores the round for Semerzier 10-9.

Winner: Taurosevicius via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
