UFC 108: Preview and Predictions on Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva

Rashad Evans

UFC 108 has been a cursed pay-per-view, with a number of big fights being pulled off the card because of injuries, illnesses and other problems. But when the fights get going on Saturday night, I have a feeling that most fans are going to think they're getting their money's worth. We've got the full preview of the five pay-per-view fights below.

What: UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva

When: The non-televised undercard starts at 7:30 PM ET Saturday, the two Spike TV fights start at 9 and the pay-per-view card starts at 10.

Where: MGM Grand, Las Vegas

Predictions on the five pay-per-view fights:
Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva
The main event is an interesting clash of styles: In my opinion Silva's excellent striking will give him the advantage on the feet, but Evans' superior wrestling will give him the advantage on the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if Silva pulls the upset, but I think Evans will take a decision.
Pick: Evans

Dustin Hazelett vs. Paul Daley
This is another contrast of styles: Daley has great punching power and an exciting, attacking approach, while Hazelett is the Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist who has a significant advantage on the ground. Hazelett has been making noises about working on his muay Thai and trying to beat Daley on his feet, but if he's smart, Hazelett will try to get this fight on the ground and win by submission.
Pick: Hazelett

Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout
Stout is a good kickboxer whose fights are always exciting, but Lauzon is a more well-rounded fighter who should be able to take Stout down and submit him.
Pick: Lauzon

Jim Miller vs. Duane Ludwig
Ludwig is back in the UFC for the first time since his famous lightning-fast knockout of Jonathan Goulet almost four years ago. Ludwig is an exciting fighter and it'll be nice to see him back in the Octagon, but I think Miller will grind out a methodical decision win over him.
Pick: Miller

Junior dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel
In some ways this is the fight I'm most looking forward to: I'm a sucker for two heavyweights who love to stand and trade strikes. I see this fight going the same way as dos Santos' last fight, against Mirko Cro Cop: The strength and punching power of dos Santos will wear Yvel down early and finish him off late.
Pick: Dos Santos
