The Nevada State Athletic Commission tested eight fighters who participated in the December 5 Ultimate Fighter Finale for steroids and illegal drugs, and the Commission announced Wednesday that all eight drug tests came back negative.The fighters tested were Roy Nelson, Brendan Schaub, Matt Hamill, Jon Jones, Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson, Frank Edgar, Matt Mitrione, John Howard and Mark Bocek. All tests were negative.
When it conducts events in states like Nevada with athletic commissions that conduct drug tests, the UFC usually leaves it to the commission to conduct the tests. In general the commissions test the main event fighters (Nelson and Schaub in the case of the Ultimate Fighter Finale) and randomly selects other fighters to be tested.
The UFC also has its own drug testing program, which it uses for overseas fight cards. Fighters who test positive are subject to suspension and the forfeiture of part of their purse.
