UFC 105 Result: 'Ultimate Fighter' Winner James Wilks vs. Matt Brown

James WilksIn the day's second battle featuring a Season 9 Ultimate Fighter winner, James Wilks took on Matt Brown Saturday at UFC 105 in Manchester, England.

Matt Brown defeated James Wilks by third-round TKO, getting on top of Brown after back and forth action and finishing him with punches from mount,

In the first round, Wilks scored with a couple of high kicks, while Brown attempted on multiple occasions to get Wilks in a guillotine choke. They spent much of the round clinching against the cage, and were twice separated by the referee in a close first round.


The second round opened with a flying knee from Brown, who hammered Wilks for much of the round both on his feet and on the ground. With a minute left in the round, however, Wilks reversed Brown's momentum on the ground and actually briefly got side control before Brown took control once again and almost sunk in a triangle choke at the end of the round.

In the third, the fight went to the ground quickly and Wilks initially looked like he had Brown in big trouble with a kimura. But Brown managed to reverse it, mount Wilks, and punch him repeatedly until the ref stepped in.

Brown, with one of the best showings of his career, improved his record to 11-7. Wilks falls to of 6-3.
