Tomasz Drwal showed once again on Saturday night that he's a fighter worth keeping an eye on, dominating Drew McFedries at UFC 103 in Dallas.
I've long been an admirer of Drwal's fighting style, and to echo what I've written about him before, the 27-year-old Drwal is now 17-2 in his professional MMA career with 10 wins by knockout or TKO, and five wins by submission. The McFedries fight was actually Drwal's third dominant victory inside the Octagon in 2009; he also knocked out Ivan Serati in the first round of their undercard fight at UFC 93, and he TKO'd Mike Ciesnolevicz in the first round of their Ultimate Fighter Finale bout in June.
Prior to this year, Drwal was going through a rough patch: he lost to Thiago Silva at UFC 75 in September of 2007, and then he missed 15 months of action because of a knee injury. Now he's back to full strength, and he's looking great.
As for McFedries, it was a disappointing showing for a fighter who has now lost three of his last four in the UFC. He might not get many more chances, but Drwal is a light heavyweight worth keeping an eye on. I look forward to seeing what he does next.
