'JZ Calvan' Out of Dream.11 Due to Injury

Gesias "JZ Calvan" Cavalcante will remain winless for at least a little bit longer.

Cavalcante (14-3-1) has pulled out of his fight against Daisuke Nakamura (20-10) announced for Oct. 6 at DREAM 11 due to a fractured knee suffered during wrestling practice last week, Cavalcante's camp has confirmed to FanHouse.

The injury is the latest in a line of bad news for the 2006 and 2007 K-1 Hero's GP champion who has been without a victory since winning the final K-1 Hero's tournament with same-night finishes over Andre "Dida" Amade and Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro on Sept. 17, 2007. The American Top Team lightweight's quest for a GP three-peat the following year ended in the opening round against Shinya Aoki and his next scheduled fight at Dynamite!! 2008 was canceled the day of the fight due to his opponent Joachim Hansen failing his medicals. In May, Cavalcante lost to Tatsuya Kawajiri via unanimous decision at DREAM. 9.

Cavalcante's knee will not require surgery and will most likely return at Dynamite!! 2009 on New Year's Eve.
