Billy Evangelista won an appeal in front of the California Athletic Commission two weeks ago and he'll look to continue his winning ways Nov. 6 against Jorge Gurgel in the main event of Strikeforce Challengers 4 in Fresno, Calif.
.
The hometown favorite Evangelista (10-3) competed at the inaugural Strikeforce Challengers event in May and was disqualified for throwing a knee to the head of the downed Mike Aina. However, upon replay, the strike was to Aina's shoulder and the commission has since changed the disqualification result to no decision, handing Evangelista his undefeated record back.
Gurgel (13-5) made his debut for Strikeforce in June at the second Strikeforce Challengers and while he still continued to stand and bang instead of relying on his high level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, it worked out in his favor as he outpointed Conor Huen in a three-round slugfest.
Local fighter and college wrestling standout Casey Olsen (10-3) will also compete on the card against an opponent to be announced.
