Daniel Cormier Still Unsure Who He'll Be Fighting, Doesn't Mind Waiting

Earlier this week, Strikeforce confirmed FanHouse's report that two-time Olympic wrestler and six-time senior national champion freestyle wrestler, Daniel Cormier, will be making his MMA debut on the Sept. 25 Strikeforce Challengers card at the SpiritBank Events Center in Bixby, Okla.

FanHouse spoke to Cormier on Thursday, and he said that he still doesn't know who he'll be fighting on the Showtime telecast.

Cormier also added that he isn't concerned with finding out who his opponent will be on such short notice. In fact, that's what he's used to.

"You gotta realize we never knew who were going to wrestle until the night before," he said.

The 30-year-old MMA rookie said that he thinks he'll learn his opponent's identity by the end of the week. He also said that he would like to fight at least one more time in 2009.

"I look to fight now and again by the end of the year. I want to learn on the job, and the best way to learn is by being thrown in there."

Cormier had a 117-10 record at Oklahoma State University. The 30-year-old finished fourth in the 2004 Olympic games in freestyle wrestling, but was forced to withdraw early from the 2008 Games after suffering from severe dehydration.
