Henderson was slated to take on Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in an interim lightweight bout on Sept. 2 in Youngstown, Ohio. Now, the championship fight and the remainder of the nine bouts on the card will remain intact with a new venue and Oct. 10 date -- the WEC's first Saturday engagement.
Although the official reason behind the postponement is Henderson's injury, it's been speculated that poor ticket sales and a dispute between Versus and DirecTV could have played a part. However, the WEC has strongly denied those claims.
The following event, WEC 44, will happen in November and is expected to feature featherweight champion Mike Brown defending against Jose Aldo and former lightweight champ "Razor" Rob McCullough squaring off against Anthony Pettis.
