Randy Couture returned to his old stomping grounds this week at the Team Quest in Gresham, Ore. as he continues his preparations for this Saturday's UFC 102 against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in Portland.
Couture, Matt Lindland and Dan Henderson were teammates on the US World Greco Roman wrestling squad and the three founded the club in 1999, where Couture would train until he opened Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas in 2006. According to Couture, the last time he trained at Team Quest was for his fight against Chuck Liddell at UFC 57 in February 2006.
Couture reflects on the gym's humble beginnings in his latest blog (video above) for the UFC.
"This is my old school, this is where it all started," Couture told the cameraman before a training session. "This was a van conversion center. They use to convert vans into campers, and all that sort of thing. And Matt Lindland and his partner Joel leased the front out as a car dealership and this whole space was just empty. So why don't we move our wrestling mats in here and we'll start training in here?... And Team Quest was born."
