Randy Couture on UFC 101: Forrest Griffin Will Press Anderson Silva

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has, in his last two fights, transformed before our eyes from a ferocious finisher to a guy who tries to do just enough to win. That has caused fans to heap scorn on Silva, and as a result, the UFC matched him up with Forrest Griffin at UFC 101, reasoning that Silva couldn't get away with the passive approach against Griffin.

Randy Couture thinks that was a smart move.

In an interview with FanHouse, Couture said Griffin is just the guy to take the fight to Silva, and that if we see the same Silva who fought Patrick Cote and Thales Leites, we're going to see Silva get his first loss in the Octagon.

Couture on Silva vs. Griffin:
I'm excited about that fight. I think it's going to be a great fight. I think you're going to see Forrest Griffin come out and press Anderson Silva, and you haven't seen a lot of people do that. Forrest is a big, strong aggressive light heavyweight, and it's going to be interesting to see how Anderson deals with that. I think the last two fights we've seen a different kind of Anderson Silva than we were used to seeing, and I just don't think that particular Anderson Silva is going to be able to get away with that with a guy like Forrest. I think it's going to be a great fight.

Couture's comments were part of a longer interview in which he discussed his upcoming fight with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, his involvement with the Sports Legends Challenge and more. Look for the full interview soon at FanHouse. Follow my UFC Twitter page for updates on all things UFC.
