The final number released today by Nevada State Athletic Commission resembles the $5.1 million the UFC initially estimated at the event's post-fight conference. The new information is that of the 10,871 tickets made available, 9,793 tickets were sold and the rest were held aside as comps, free tickets typically reserved for friends, family and business associates of the UFC.
The seating capacity at the Mandalay Bay Events Center is less than the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and probably because of that, the UFC 100 live gate fell short of UFC 66 "Liddell vs. Ortiz 2" in December 2006, which netted the promotion $5,397,300.
To accommodate nearby fans without tickets to the sold-out event, special closed circuits screenings were held at the MGM, Mandalay Bay and Mirage, drawing $312,8000 with 6,256 sold and 575 comped. There was also a viewing party at the Radio City Music Hall in New York, but those figures were not provided to the Nevada commission.
