Bader last competed against American Top Team's Carmelo Marrerro at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1 and while he exited the bout with a unanimous decision victory, he also walked off with a torn PCL and MCL on his knee. Luckily, the injuries did not require surgery and Bader was told by doctors that rehab would suffice.
Schafer is also coming off an injury, one to his ribs, which forced him out of a fight in June at the "TUF 9 Finale" card against Tomasz Drwal. Schafer is carrying a four-fight win streak, with his most recent two first-round finishes in the UFC.
Schafer's strength is his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and he'll be taking on a talented wrestler who is looking to incorporate more jiu-jitsu into his grappling.
UFC 104 will be headlined by a championship bout between Lyoto Machida making his first defense against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.
