UFC 98 'Evans vs. Machida' Undercard Results

Brock Larson won the Submission of the Night against late replacement Mike Pyle in the final bout of the preliminary card of UFC 98 "Evans vs Machida" in Las Vegas. A back and forth grappling display ended with Larson on top pounding his way to an arm-triangle for the tap at 3:06 of the first.

Former King of the Cage Canada heavyweight champion Tim Hague won his Octagon debut at 1:42 of the first round by exploiting striker Patrick Barry's still-growing ground game. Hague secured the takedown and locked in a guillotine choke as Barry attempted to get to his feet.

Kyle Bradley picked up the win over Phillipe Nover, but this one is another stoppage that will be highly debated. Even though Nover was knocked down, he was arguable not given a chance to recover. The official time was 1:03 of the first round.

More than just a kimura submission machine, Krzysztof Soszynski scored a knockout over Andre Gusmao, swinging away left and rights until the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt went limp against the cage from a straight right at 3:17.

Yoshiyuki Yoshida submitted Brandon Wollf not once, but twice, with a guillotine choke. Yoshida latched onto a front guillotine from standing and finished it from mount. However, the referee didn't notice Wolff tapping. Yoshida then rolled to his back and finished from guard at 2:14.

In the opening bout of the card, George Roop won a split decision over David Kaplan. Two of the judges scored the fight 30-27 for Roop, while one gave the fight 29-28 in favor of Kaplan.
