Two titles on the line at Sengoku 9

Two championships and a number one contender status are at stake at Sengoku 9 on August 2 in Saitama, Japan.

Sengoku lightweight champion Satoru Kitaoka (24-8-9) will make his first belt defense taking on Cage Force lightweight titleholder Mizuto Hirota. Kitaoka, who won the belt in January against former PRIDE champion Takanori Gomi, has won five straight and ten of his last eleven fights, with the most recent loss a split decision against current Pancrase champ Katsuya Inoue. Hirota both competed two Sundays ago at the Shooto 20th Anniversary show and stopped Mitsuhiro Ishida in 93 seconds.

Also, the Featherweight GP champion will be crowned at this event, and he'll have to earn it with two wins in the same night. The winner of Hatsu vs. Masanori Kanehara and the winner of Michihiro Omigawa vs. Marlon Sandro will square off in the final bout of the evening.

The next middleweight championship title bout will determined by the winner of Kazuo Misak vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura. The winner will face champion Jorge Santiago.
