Thales Leites vs. Alessio Sakara at UFC 101

Thales Leites will step in for the injured Rousimar Palhares against Alessio Sakara at UFC 101 on August 8 in Philadelphia, according to Intheguard.tv.

Leites, who last fought in the poorly-received middleweight title fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 97, accepted this fight as an opportunity to redeem himself.

"What is most important is getting back to fighting as soon as possible," Leites told Intheguard.tv. "I know that I didn't fight well, that things didn't go as I wanted [to] against Anderson Silva, so nothing is better than starting again."

Leites (14-2) compiled five straight wins to earn the title shot against Silva, but the championship fight itself -- which UFC president Dana White said he was embarrassed for promoting -- will set back any of Leites' title aspirations in the near future.

Despite zero back-to-back wins in the UFC, Sakara (13-7) of the American Top Team will be stepping foot in the Octagon for a tenth straight time. He'll get his fourth try against Leites. Sakara's last fight was in September, knocking out Joe Vedepo with a head kick in the first round.

Palhares bowed out of UFC 101 due to a fractured tibia (shin) suffered during training.
