Kevin Randleman-Mike Whitehead at June 6 Strikeforce

Kevin Randleman's opponent at the Strikeforce "Lawler vs Shields" event will be Mike Whitehead, the promotion announced Thursday.

The fight will serve as the lead-in to the Robbie Lawler vs. Jake Shields 182-pound catchweight main event from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Randleman (17-12) had announced his participation on the June 6 card at the post-fight press conference durin last month's "Shamrock vs. Diaz" event.

Randleman has a long history in the sport, fighting seven times for the UFC from March 1999 through January 2002 and eleven times for PRIDE September 2002 through October 2006. His most recent fight was last May at Sengoku 2 in Japan, where he defeated Ryo Kawamura via unanimous decision.

Randleman had his license to fight revoked in February 2007 for submitting a fake urine sample at PRIDE 32 in October 2006. Putting the drama behind him, he's regained his license and will be returning to the US for the first time since that PRIDE 32 fight.

Whitehead (23-7), a contestant on "The Ultimate Fighter 2" and a former member of the Tucson Scorpions in the IFL, had a 13-fight win streak snapped at Affliction "Banned" after going three rounds with current Strikeforce 205-lb. champ Renato "Babalu" Sobral. Whitehead fought three months later and submitted Leo Pla with a guillotine choke at M-1 Challenge.
