UFC 14 winner Kevin Jackson to coach at Iowa State

Kevin Jackson has accepted the head wrestling coaching gig at Iowa State, replacing four-time NCAA wrestling champion and Olympic gold medalist Cael Sanderson.

Jackson, a 1992 Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling, wrestled in college for Iowa State as well as Louisiana State. This will be the 44-year-old's first head coaching job a collegiate level. He'll be paid $125,000 per year plus bonuses for four years.

For mixed martial arts fans, Jackson is best remembered for UFC 14 on June 27, 1997 when he became the middleweight tournament winner by forcing two first-round tap outs. Also, he's forever implanted in Frank Shamrock's highlight reel when the Olympian submitted to an armbar in 16 seconds.

Jackson's MMA career lasted from March 1997-May 1998 and completed with a record of 4-2.
