WEC 41: Jens Pulver vs. Josh Grispi

Jens Pulver will fight Josh Grispi at WEC 41 on June 7, World Extreme Cagefighting officials confirmed to me Sunday.

The featherweight fight features an old veteran in the 34-year-old Pulver taking on a young up-and-comer in the 21-year-old Grispi. It will be the biggest fight in the career of Grispi, who has a 12-1 record, including 2-0 in the WEC, and it will be an opportunity for Pulver, who has lost five of his last six fights, to prove he still has something left.

At his best, Pulver was among the best heavyweights in the history of the sport, but none of his five recent losses have even been competitive, and some fans and members of the MMA media have questioned whether he should still be fighting. Pulver, however, spent Sunday night at WEC 40 mingling with fans and fighters, and he appears to be eager to get back in the cage. And the feeling among everyone I've talked to in the WEC is that Pulver still has at least a few good fights left in him.

Here's how the WEC 41 fight card is shaping up:
Mike Brown vs. Urijah Faber
Jens Pulver vs. Josh Grispi
Donald Cerrone vs. Richard Crunkilton
Manny Gamburyan vs. John Franchi
Leonard Garcia vs. TBA
