Promoter Monte Cox informed MMAFighting.com today that the entire Adrenaline card will move and the scheduled May 30 date will be replaced by a different event. Sherdog.com first reported Sylvia vs. Mercer would be rescheduled for June 13.
Cox also promotes Extreme Challenge and the show is a possible substitute for the May date at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.
Cox pulled Adrenaline 3 from New Jersey after the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board refused to sanction the Sylvia vs. Mercer fight.
Sylvia will be making his professional boxing debut after eight years as a MMA fighter. It was initially planned for him to fight Mercer in a mixed martal arts bout but considering Mercer is 47 years old, Cox felt the fight would be more compelling under boxing rules.
Mercer, a former WBO heavyweight boxing champ, is 0-1 in MMA, though the fight was classified as an exhibition. Mercer lost to Kimbo Slice via guillotine choke at Cage Fury Fighting Championship 5 in June 2007.
