Former WEC middleweight champ Paulo Filho has turned down an offer to fight for Bellator Fighting Championship on ESPN Deportes.
Filho's manager Jorge "Joinha" Guimaraes tells Brazilian magazine TATAME that the fighter couldn't come to terms with an agreement with the fledgling promotion.
"Bellator's contract is cruel," Guimaraes told TATAME. "It's a new event and we opted not to put Paulo there, because they didn't want to put a clause in the contract that, if the guy stays without fighting for four months, the contract loses its validity. We were victims of this in EliteXC, which was consolidated and left the athletes behind, without fighting for a long time."
According to Guimarares, Filho has received offers from World Victory Road's Sengoku in Japan and Strikeforce.
