KJ Noons turned down Strikeforce title shot

Former EliteXC lightweight champion KJ Noons was offered a title shot against Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson at Strikeforce "Shamrock vs. Diaz" on April 11 but turned down the fight to concentrate on his boxing career.

Noons, 8-1 in pro boxing and 7-2 in MMA, has at least two boxing fights on the horizon.

He will fight Detroit middleweight James Countryman (13-1) on the undercard of TMAX Events and TKO BOXING Promotions' "Hometown Heroes to World Champions" on March 21 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Then on April 18, Noons wil face Matt Vanda (39-9) at "Fight Night at Target Center" in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Gilbert Melendez will meet rematch Thomson for the title on April 11.
