The UFC's debut in Germany will be titled "The Comeback" and will be headlined by Rich Franklin taking on Wanderlei Silva at a catchweight of 195 pounds, the UFC announced today.
UFC 99 happens Saturday, June 13 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany. The event will likely air live in the US on pay-per-view.
Franklin and Silva are meeting halfway because Franklin's intention for now is to stay at 205 pounds and Silva is looking at a move down to 185 pounds.
The UFC wanted the lightweight championship bout between titleholder BJ Penn and challenger Kenny Florian as the main event but Penn asked for more time in order to spend more time with his daughter as well as to recover from his loss to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 94 in January.
Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, March 13.
