Undefeated lightweight Richie Whitson will appear on "The Ultimate Fighter 9: US vs. UK" on Spike TV, MMAFighting.com has learned.
The 23-year-old Whitson (4-0) from Sitka, Alaska won the X1 lightweight belt last May in Hawaii against Ray Cooper. After the upset win against the Shooto veteran, Whitson moved to Temecula, California to pursue fighting MMA professionally with Team Quest.
If Whitson wins his elimination bout to secure a spot in the house, he'll be training with a familiar face, Team Quest's Dan Henderson, who is the head coach of the US team.
"The Ultimate Fighter 9: US vs. UK" is scheduled to premiere Wednesday, April 1.
