Above the Keith Jardine vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson UFC 96 preview video.
The main event at UFC 96 is significant, first and foremost, because it will determine the No. 1 contender in the light heavyweight division: If Rampage wins, he fights champion Rashad Evans next. If Jardine wins, Lyoto Machida fights Evans next.
But the video also makes clear something that I think has been overlooked, and that's the extent to which an impressive showing could change our perceptions of Jardine.
"It's a chance for me to show what I've done and show how I've improved," Jardine said.
Added UFC President Dana White, "A win for Jardine can change this guy's whole life."
If Jardine wins, he'd have to be considered one of the Top 5 light heavyweights in the world, and a potential title contender down the line, especially if Machida beats Evans. This is a huge fight for the Dean of Mean.
