James Thompson to fight at 'Sengoku 8'

James Thompson will fight on March 20 at World Victory Road "Sengoku 8" in Japan.

Thompson is coming off a Feb. 6 fight where he arguably might have single-handedly ended the Titans Fighting promotion, formerly known as StrikeBox. In a bout that was only supposed to allow striking, standing submissions and takedowns (with restarts), Thompson took down Steve Bosse and proceeded to ground and pound his opponent. The fans tossed beer cans and chairs into the cage, leading to the fight being called a no contest.

Thompson has fared better in Japan. In his last two appearances for PRIDE, Thompson won via first-round TKO against Don Frye and Hidehiko Yoshida.

Sengoku 8 will feature the first round of the event's Featherweight Grand Prix. Scheduled to compete are Hatsu Hioki, Marlon Sandro, Chris Manuel, Nick Denis, Ronnie Mann, Masanori Kanehara, Tetsuya Yamada, Chang Son Jon, Shintaro Ishiwatari, Seiya Kawahara and Michihiro Omigawa.

The one non-tournament bout announced so far is Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal vs. Ryo Kawamura.
