Melvin Manhoef back on short notice at 'Dynamite!!'

Melvin Manhoef came out of his vague retirement when he fought earlier this month as a kickboxer at the K-1 World GP Final, and he'll return as a MMA fighter as well at "Dynamite!!" on New Year's Eve.

Manhoef was added to the card today against Mark Hunt in an open-weight fight. Manhoef steps in for Jerome Lebanner, who has been hospitalized due to a flu.

Manhoef, a middleweight, will be giving up great size in fighting Hunt, a heavyweight. Hunt has fought big names before on New Year's Eve, beating Wanderlei Silva and Mirko "Cro Cop" in 2004, 2005, respectively, and losing to Fedor Emelianenko in 2006.

Manhoef stated in September after his DREAM 5 loss that he would retire to spend more time with his family. Two months later, he announced his return to kickboxing. At first it was unclear if he was retiring in kickboxing, in MMA, or fighting overall, but now it appears he'll be fighting in both.
