Although it's not for a belt and it's not the main event, Rampage vs. Wanderlei is probably the most anticipated fight of the entire UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 show. There is genuine bad blood between these two guys, who fought twice previously in the Japanese Pride organization, and some of that bad blood spilled over into the weigh in yesterday.
They're both exciting fighters, and they just don't like each other. It should be a sick fight.
Rampage vs. Wanderlei is the second fight on the pay-per-view card and should start around 10:30 p.m. Eastern. The live blog begins below.
Silva is making his way to the Octagon. Silva is in the Octagon.
Jackson is making his way to the Octagon. Jackson is in the Octagon.
They stare down and refuse to touch gloves.
Round 1: This fight is underway. Rampage throws a right and lands the first punch, then steps back. Nice leg kick from Silva. Good combination from Silva. They're both being a little more cautious than you might have expected. Silva lands a punch and another leg kick. A couple of good jabs from Jackson. Jackson goes for a takedown and Silva makes him pay for it by landing a knee. We're two minutes in and they're continuing to stalk each other. Silva lands another leg kick, taking a page out of Forrest Griffin's playbook. Round 1 is half over and it's been all on the feet. Jackson catches a Silva kick but can't turn it into a takedown. A good jab from Rampage. A brutal punch! Rampage levels Silva! Rampage Jackson knocks out Wanderlei Silva.
