UFC 92 'The Ultimate 2008' Weigh-In Results

Aside of an intense staredown-shove, the weigh-ins for UFC 92 went smoothly on Friday as all twenty fighters made weight for Saturday's "The Ultimate 2008" event in Las Vegas.

Forrest Griffin, who'll defend his UFC light heavyweight belt for the first time, weighed in at 205 pounds.

"It's not really real until you get a title defense, so I'd really liked to do that obviously," Griffin said of the importance of his first defense.

Griffin will take on fellow "The Ultimate Fighter" winner Rashad Evans, who'll be looking to keep his undefeated record intact and look for another career-defining performance after his devastating knockout victory over Chuck Liddell in September.

"I'm just looking to go out there and have a great competition with Forrest," Evans said moments after weighing in. "May the best man win, but I'm looking to go out there and get that belt."

The tension between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, 206 pounds, and Wanderlei Silva, 203 pounds, is high going into their third meeting on Saturday. Silva won twice already via knockout, and the most recent one left Jackson unconscious inbetween ropes. Further, Silva on Tuesday publicly asked UFC president Dana White to sign him a check for Knockout of the Night.

Silva engaged in a spine-tingling staredown with an unusually quiet Jackson until Jackson reverted to his old self with a sly smile. Silva, upset that Jackson made light of the situation, shoved Jackson and the two had to be restrained by bodyguards.

Jackson played up the altercation with a throat-slash gesture and thumbs down for Silva before unleashing his trademark howl.

In the third of three main events, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira weighed in at 246 pounds for his interim UFC heavyweight title defense against Frank Mir, who stepped off the scale at 251. The winner will face champion Brock Lesnar in Spring or early Summer 2009 to determine the undisputed UFC heavyweight champ.
