Jake Rosholt to make UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 17

3-time NCAA Division 1 wrestling champ Jake Rosholt will make his UFC debut against Alessio Sakara at UFC Fight Night 17: Lauzon vs. Franca on Feb. 7 in Tampa, Florida.

Rosholt (5-0) is being transferred to the UFC with the phasing out of the middleweight division in the WEC. The 26-year-old, training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, won his WEC debut via TKO on Nov. 5. In addition to his NCAA wrestling championships, Rosholt is also a 4-time All American while attending Oklahoma State University.

Sakara (17-7), a power puncher out of the American Top Team, will be making his tenth straight appearance for the UFC. Sakara is coming off a victory at UFC Fight Night on Sept. 17 that earned him the Knockout of the Night award, but with 4 wins, 4 losses and 1 no contest inside the Octagon, the Italian has never won back-to-back fights in the UFC.

Current fight card:

  • Joe Lauzon vs. Hermes Franca
  • Mac Danzig vs. Josh Neer
  • Amir Sadollah vs. Nick Catone
  • Alessio Sakara vs. Jake Rosholt
  • Gleison Tibau vs. Rich Clementi
