MMAFighting.com World Rankings: December 2008

2000 NCAA wrestling champ Brock Lesnar debuted on the number four heavyweight spot after his TKO win over UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture to win the UFC heavyweight belt.

Carrying only a 3-1 record, Lesnar may perhaps be the highest ranked MMA fighter with the least amount of professional fighting experience.

Wagnney Fabiano, the former IFL featherweight champ, made his WEC debut on Dec. 3, and although his performance was not dazzling, it was a solid display of his grappling proficiency in his submission win over former number three ranked Akitoshi Tamura. Fabiano shoots up to the number three spot in a very nomadic featherweight division.

Notes: Diego Sanchez remains as a welterweight until he takes a fight as a lightweight... Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson, who will fight each other as light-heavyweights, are listed as middleweights because of their likely eventual return to the division.
