"We are no longer affiliated with Cage Rage or EliteXC and have made the decision to found Ultimate Challenge UK to ensure we retain complete control of our future," said Dave O'Donnell, a co-founder of Cage Rage who now serves as the director of Ultimate Challenge UK.
Ultimate Challenge UK's inaugural show "Bad Breed," taking place at the Troxy in London, featured the crowning of champions in the heavyweight, welterweight and lightweight divisions.
Neil Grove ground and pounded his way to a TKO victory over James McSweeney to win the Ultimate Challenge UK heavyweight title; Tom Watson stopped Danny Cubitt to win the promotion's welterweight belt; and Tim Radcliffe submitted former Cage Rage lightweight champion Jason Young with a rear naked choke to win the Ultimate Challenge UK lightweight belt.
The next Ultimate Challenge show, "Unbreakable," will happen from the Troxy on Feb. 7, 2009. James Thompson will fight on the card.
