Video: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski Is a Great Fight, but Will It Happen?

First, here's the hype video for Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski at Affliction Day of Reckoning:

Make no mistake, Fedor vs. Arlovski is a great fight. The winner of that fight is the best heavyweight in MMA, no matter what happens in the UFC with Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir.

But there's just one problem: A lot of people don't think the fight is going to happen at all.

After I asked Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer to confirm that his company is promoting Day of Reckoning on January 24 -- and Schaefer declined to answer -- I heard from several people in and around the MMA world who told me that they think Day of Reckoning is going to be called off.

And today I see that Steve Cofield of Yahoo says the Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley fight will take place at the Staples Center, which means Affliction won't get much local media attention for Fedor vs. Arlovski in Anaheim. Michael Rome of Bloody Elbow is the latest to say he thinks the show will be canceled.

So will the show go on? I don't know. But I do know Affliction is going to have a hell of a time selling tickets to a fight that a lot of people see as nothing more than a mirage.
