Enson Inoue arrested for drug possession

Former PRIDE and Shooto star Enson Inoue was arrested for possession of marijuana Saturday at around 4pm in Tokyo, Japan, Sports Navi reports.

Inoue, 41, was approached by a police officer that noticed suspicious activity and was caught with 16.9 grams of marijuana.

Possession of marijuana in Japan can result in up to five years in jail.
In August a sumo wrestler by the name of Wakanoho became the first to receive a lifetime ban for possession of marijuana. The Japan Sumo Association proceeded to institute random drug testing and two more wrestlers failed, and both received lifetime bans.
Inoue retired from mixed martial arts competition in 2004. The former Shooto heavyweight champion holds an armbar submission win over UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture.
